G-SHOCK seems to be moving ahead to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year by launching a limited edition MTG in honor of the Year of the Tiger. Casio worked with a young Chinese graffiti artist, Hou Shanzhao, who created not only the engraved pattern on the caseback but also a painting of a golden tiger.
The G-SHOCK MTG-B1000 comes from the premium “Metal Twisted G-Shock” line of watches and was used as the base model for the year’s zodiac-themed limited edition for the first time.
G-SHOCK MTG Year of the Tiger Edition has a color dominated by Gold and Red. Here the gold bezel and back case are paired with a fiery red strap. The bezel undergoes a “laser peeling” process to create a gold-colored tiger stripe pattern.
The watch also has Bluetooth and Multiband 6 connectivity, Tough Solar Power, and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. The MTG-B1000CX-4AER is now available for £999 (about $1,370 USD).
