One of the current limitations of Instagram Stories is that each story you post has a maximum length of 15 seconds. You can of course post 10 of them if you have a 150-second video, but the breaks between each Story can be a bit untidy and can ruin the narrative you’re aiming for. However, it now appears that the company is testing extending Stories’ duration to 60 seconds. This is according to a tweet by Matt Navarra who shared a screenshot from @yousufortaccom in Turkey where they found information informing them of the change.
Instagram already offers creators a way to post long-form content via IGTV, and content creators typically post that IGTV link in their Stories so users can watch it. However, allowing longer content to be shared on Stories, will create a smoother viewing experience so users don’t have to jump from section to section.
Keep in mind that not all users will see this new change so Instagram may be testing the feature before rolling it out to more users, assuming that’s the plan.
